What is an adaptogen?<\/h2>\n
\n

Adaptogens are herbs, roots, and mushrooms that have been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine to help improve our resistance to stress, our concentration, and our immune system. They are called “adaptogens” because they “adapt” to the state of the body and can stimulate or calm it according to its needs.<\/p>\n

Among the most well-known adaptogens, we find ashwagandha, rhodiola, ginseng, maca, and reishi, but you certainly consume other adaptogens every day: for example, ginger and rosemary fall into the adaptogen category. Kombucha, now well-known in the West, is also related to adaptogens.<\/p>\n

Each adaptogen has its properties, but they all share a common point: the ability to reduce the harmful effects of stress on the body. High levels of cortisol can lead to a variety of health problems, including anxiety, depression, weight gain, and heart disease, as well as premature aging of the skin due to significant cell oxidation.<\/p>\n

However, it is important to keep in mind that adaptogens are not intended to cure specific diseases but rather to support overall health and reduce the effects of stress on the body.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n

What are the properties of adaptogens?<\/h2>\n

Adaptogens boast several beneficial properties for the body: stress regulation, improved cognitive functions, boosted energy and vitality, and strengthened immune system. They are often highly antioxidant as well.<\/p>\n

Here are a few examples of well-known adaptogens and their benefits:<\/p>\n

In cosmetics, adaptogens help protect the skin against the harmful effects of the environment, reduce inflammation, and improve skin elasticity. Adaptogens also have moisturizing, antioxidant, and regenerative properties.<\/p>\n

For example, ashwagandha is rich in antioxidants that can help reduce the damages caused by free radicals and prevent signs of skin aging.
