Beauty Interview with Anne-Charlotte Sangam: “ I believe very much in the poetry of everyday life. »
Anne-Charlotte Sangam, author and publisher, devotes a deep love to words and literature. She finds Beauty in our daily life when we sometimes have trouble discerning it, and gives us a great dose of poetry. What if Beauty was really in everything that surrounds us?
Can you tell us about the last time Beauty helped you or healed you?
I think it was last July, in the Vercors (a mountain chain in France), in the mountains, in nature and by a truly magical river, which flow, music and light were truly soothing and healing.
How do you bring more Beauty to the world?
I think, at least I hope so, with my words, with the messages I share and also, I hope so, by the gentleness that I try to spread around me.
Do you believe that Beauty will save us? How?
Yes, I believe it will save us, by enriching our heart, by enriching our creative mind. I believe that Beauty enriches us, soothes us and increase this shining part that is within each of us. It brings us strength and hope.
If I say Beauty, what do you think of?
I think of the sea, the sun, nature, flowers… but I also think of art and, especially literature and books.
Do you remember the first thing that amazed you as a child?
I don’t have a precise memory of it but I guess it was the sea. More precisely, in Saint-Malo (coastal city in Brittany, France), the waves, the foam, their movement, the wind.
Where does Beauty hide? Can it be found in the most ordinary things?
I really think that Beauty is in our everyday life. I really believe in the poetry of everyday life. It hides in ordinary things : a flower that suddenly sprouts from a sidewalk, from the tarmac, a child’s smile, someone you pass by in the street and gives you a warm welcome… I even believe, and I will use a term that may strike some of you, and has struck me for a long time, but I think that Beauty is in banality.
What is your motto or philosophy in life to make you feel beautiful and fulfilled?
For the last few days, my philosophy is really to consider everything as a joyful surprise. And to replace sentence like “I have to”, “I have to do this or that” by “I want to”!
What feeling does Beauty arouse in you? Could you describe it?
I think it’s a real dazzle, a feeling of grace, a heart opening feeling.
