The benefits of Tea Tree essential oil for the face
Tea Tree essential oil and its benefits for the skin of the face
Tea Tree oil has powerful antibacterial and antiseptic properties, and can be beneficial when used internally (although care must be taken with the dosage and method of use) and externally. Due to its properties, Tea Tree essential oil is an effective natural remedy for acne and breakouts.
This essential oil is one of the best oils for blemish-prone skin. When used topically, it is generally well tolerated, even on the face, and is known to have many benefits for the skin.
- It purifies oily skin by controlling excess sebum.
- It acts on skin inflammations such as eczema, pruritus (chronic itchy skin) and even fungal infections, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
- It slows down the development of spots and acne, thanks to its antibacterial properties.
- It helps to get rid of impurities, as it makes it easier to extract sebum and residue trapped in pores.
As for the eye area, it’s best to avoid using tea tree essential oil – or indeed any essential oils – in this, the most fragile area of the face. It’s much better to use botanical oils instead.
To take advantage of all the properties of Tea Tree essential oil for your face, there are different ways to apply it.
- Incorporate some Tea Tree essential oil into your skincare routine by adding a drop of oil to a teaspoon of a neutral plant oil, or add it directly to your face cream.
- Look for a skincare product made with Tea Tree essential oil, such as our Le Savon Noir soap, which gently purifies and balances the skin.

As with all essential oils, you should always be careful and take precautions. Do not use Tea Tree oil undiluted, and make sure you use it in the right amounts. It should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women, or by children. As for men with sensitive and often blemish-prone skin, our gentle purifying products will be just perfect!
