The Benefits of Our Cold-Processed Soaps
There are two main methods for crafting soap: hot process, traditionally used for Marseille soaps, and cold process, which has been enjoying a beautiful revival in recent years.
The hot process involves heating a blend of oils and lye to high temperatures — typically between 80°C and 100°C — resulting in a soap that is ready to use as soon as the cooking is complete.
But this method comes with its downsides: it requires significant energy, can compromise delicate ingredients like essential oils, and often removes natural glycerin, a precious ally for keeping the skin soft and comfortable.

In contrast, cold process soapmaking is an artisanal, gentler method that honors the integrity of the ingredients.
It preserves the full benefits of vegetable oils and retains the natural glycerin created during the saponification process.
This is the method we choose to craft our soaps.
By working at carefully controlled temperatures — between 33°C and 48°C — we protect the nourishing properties of essential fatty acids.
The result is a bar rich in natural glycerin, able to cleanse the skin while respecting its delicate hydrolipidic film.
Each soap is cut by hand, then left to cure for a minimum of 8 weeks.
This slow drying phase allows the lye to evaporate naturally and the bar to harden gently, ensuring a softer, longer-lasting formula that’s kind to your skin.

What are the benefits of cold process soapmaking for the skin?
Cold process soapmaking is an artisanal method that ensures a high-quality product — gentle, effective, and kind to the skin.
This method offers two major benefits for the skin.
First, it preserves the vegetable glycerin naturally produced during the saponification reaction. Glycerin is a powerful humectant: it draws moisture into the upper layers of the skin and helps retain it, ensuring long-lasting hydration throughout the day.
Second, cold process allows for a superfat, meaning a portion of the vegetable oils remains unsaponified. These precious oils help nourish the skin, reinforce its natural barrier, and prevent uncomfortable tightness or dryness.

Finally, the absence of preservatives and synthetic colorants reduces the risk of irritation, making these soaps ideal allies for all skin types — even the most sensitive.
Our soaps made using the cold process method
We offer two cold-processed soaps: the White Soap and the Black Soap.
Le Savon Blanc
Its formula brings together four active ingredients known for their skin-loving properties:
Calendula, with its anti-inflammatory benefits, soothes irritation and supports the regeneration of delicate or weakened skin.
Coconut oil, nourishing and restorative, is easily absorbed by the skin, relieving tightness and restoring softness and suppleness.
Shea butter, rich in fatty acids, protects, softens, and promotes healing while helping to prevent premature skin aging.
Rice bran oil, packed with vitamin E and antioxidants, enhances skin elasticity, protects against environmental stressors, and stimulates microcirculation for a more radiant complexion.
Designed for a daily care ritual, this soap blends soothing and nourishing ingredients, perfectly suited to sensitive, reactive, or simply softness-seeking skin.
From the very first lather, it cleanses gently, without stripping or drying the skin.
Formulated with a 5% superfat, it delivers immediate comfort and leaves a fresh, delicate scent on the skin — perfect for starting the day on a soft note.
Le Savon Noir
Its composition combines three powerful and complementary active ingredients:
Propolis, naturally rich in ferulic acid, stimulates cell regeneration, promotes healing, and supports collagen and elastin production — for firmer, more resilient skin that’s better protected against signs of aging.
Activated charcoal, known for its absorbent properties, effectively draws out toxins, excess sebum, and impurities while preserving the skin’s natural hydrolipidic barrier.
Tea tree essential oil, with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties, helps purify the skin and prevent the appearance of blemishes.
Gentle enough for daily use, this soap cleanses the skin deeply while respecting its natural balance.
Also formulated with a 5% superfat, it helps maintain optimal hydration and leaves a comforting, protective veil on the skin.
How to incorporate them into your skincare routine?
Our soaps can be used on both the face and body, and are chosen based on your skin’s mood and needs:
Le Savon Blanc is ideal for daily cleansing of the face and body, especially for dry or sensitive skin in need of comfort. Simply lather the bar between your hands or directly onto damp skin, gently massage, then rinse with clean water.
Le Savon Noir, enriched with activated charcoal and propolis, is best suited for acne-prone, combination, or oily skin. It can also be used daily on the face — preferably in the evening. On the body, it’s especially effective on areas prone to breakouts, such as the back and chest.

We recommend following your ritual with a hydrating lotion.
