Nurturing Unconditional Love – A Series of Ceremonies and Alignment Guides from UMA GAIA
Unconditional Love is when we offer love freely without conditions, expectations, or in the hopes or desires to receive anything in return. Unconditional Love has no bounds. However, this does not mean we do not have self-awareness, discernment and compassionate boundaries. We can Unconditionally Love someone and not be in a relationship with them because of some other dis-alignment. We can Unconditionally Love a neighbor without knowing them. Unconditional Love is one of the very precious strings that connects our entire Universe, and all of Humanity. You can have boundaries and still have boundless Unconditional Love. Unconditional Love, honors, nurtures and supports you for only the goodness that life has to offer. Allowing someone to hurt you or cause harm to you in anyway in the name of Unconditional Love is not that, it is co-dependent love, which is unhealthy, imbalanced and not-supportive for uplifting and connected relationships. We can have Unconditional Love and lovingly walk-away from relationships that are not honoring a harmonious exchange. On the path of discovery of true Unconditional Love, the most important reminder is that it is already within us, it is our divine nature.
Chakra Awareness
Within the boundaries of love we can speak to two different energy centers; the Sacral / 2nd Chakra or in traditional Sanskrit known as the Svadhisthana and the Heart/4thChakra and in Sanskrit known as the Anahata. When one speaks to the romantic kind of love you would have for a partner or the intimate love you have with friends this is the love that resides within the Svadhisthana. When we talk about Unconditional Love which is the focus for this guide; it represents the kind of ultimate love, that we can most compare it to the innate and unbound ‘Mothers Love’ – but Unconditional Love is even beyond that; it is seeing all beings as love, all things as love and all inter-connected in light and love (no matter what one has done or hasn’t done in ones journey, Unconditional Love is blind to all things but itself.)
An UMA GAIA briefing on the Anahata/Heart Chakra
- Statement: “I LOVE”
- Location: Chest/Lungs
- Color: Green (as the most brilliant green grass one could imagine)
- Musical Note: F
- Element: Air
- Planet: Moon (representing feminine/unconditional love/beauty/the bridge between lower and higher self)
- Essential Crystal: Rose Quartz & Jade
- Mantra: YAM
- Essential Oil: Rose & Neroli
- Fundamental Characteristics: Unconditional Love, Letting Go, Forgiveness, Humility, Gratitude, Trust, Surrender, Peace
How can we use the above Chakra characteristics to help us nurture our Unconditional Love, and Heart Chakra center? For example, since we now know the main color that represents the heart is green, a small gesture to bring in the resonance and connect to this energy center would be to wear the color green, eat green foods, or even visualize a beautiful green color during meditation. Another way; if we know that the Moon represents the heart center, one could observe the Moon, gaze at the Moon, and write how one feels connected to it. It can be as simple as taking the Chakra details/compass points above and seeing how you can softly integrate them here and there into your daily life and experiences.
Mind Body Spirit Guidance for Expanding One’s Unconditional Love
Consider the below as HW sequences for nurturing your Heart and Unconditional Love. Start small, don’t set the bar so high you don’t do anything. What I recommend is picking a few sequences and doing them daily and then add in more or swap out others when you feel ready; at some point though you will want to have done all the below sequences without any feelings of resistance many times in one’s life. Commitment, consistency and softening to the process/journey are the keys to growing and expanding ones love, joy and light. Remember this always when you are embarking on shifting, healing, awakening, releasing and expanding yourself. I have noted on some of the sequences the best time of day to do them, but I recommend, sitting with yourself, intuition and seeing where these sequences best align with you naturally.
A Self-Compassion Hug (Morning)
Wrap your arms around yourself and hug yourself with Unconditional Love & compassion. Send these sentiments to yourself, know you are worthy of them no matter what. Embrace and honor your physical form, your physical portal and at the same time honor and send love to all aspects of your emotional, mental and spiritual being. Stay here for a few moments and repeat one of your chosen intentions. Repeat the intention in your Heart and Third Eye. If you want to take it one step further, visualize a beautiful glowing green light all around you.
Examples of Intentions to use for Unconditional Love:
- I am always worthy of Unconditional Love
- It is easy for me to give and receive Unconditional Love
- As I trust and let go Unconditional Love flows towards me
Activating Your High Heart (Morning)
Your High Heart, it sits in the center of the chest, right at that spot in the middle where the bones and your body dips in a bit, creating almost a little circle center space. When you tap it with intention, and a steady direct hand (not limp) and with just your Saturn & Jupiter fingers (pointer and middle fingers) it feels as though it is echoing from within. This is the door to your Heart center, many people find it very sensitive at first, but as they connect with it over time it begins to strengthen. Once you find your High heart, take the Saturn and Jupiter fingers with intention and tap the center with gentle strength 6x – as you tap, repeat your chosen intention in your Heart and Third Eye. (Reference the recording bellow for hand placement and sequence tips* Tapping which is a branch of Acu-pressure and Acupuncture.)
Note: Your Heart Chakra is the known as the bridge from your lower/earthly self/the first three Chakras and your higher/spirit/conscious self/ the upper three Chakras.
Bridge Yoga Pose for Awakening Heart Center
Bridge pose is a gentle foundation pose for opening the Anahata and heart energy center.
- Lie on the floor, if needed place blanket or support under your shoulders to protect your neck.
- Bend your knees, and place your feet on the floor, heals should be as close to the sitting bones as possible.
- Exhale and press your inner feet and arms actively into the floor, push your tailbone upward, and firming the buttocks (but not hardening), lift buttocks off the floor, keep your thighs and inner feet parallel.
- Clasp your hands below your pelvis and extend through your arms to stay up on top of your shoulders.
- Lift your buttocks and thighs until they are parallel to the floor, keep your knees over the heels, but push forward, away from the hips and lengthen your tailbone, life the pubis towards the naval.
- Lift your chin slightly away from the sternum, firming the shoulder blades against your back, press the chin forward, firm your outer arms, broaden the shoulder blades to create more lifted space between them and the neck space.
- Stay in pose for 30 seconds to 1 minute, breathing and visualizing a green light beaming up from your heart to the sky. When you are ready to release, roll down your spine gently to the floor.
Daily Expression of Gratitude
Express gratitude in each and every moment, experience and interaction you may have whether one of love and joy or one of pain and growth. Cultivate gratitude for the most simplest things and for the grandest, they are all equal on the scales of gratitude. For example, start your morning with gratitude for only the things within your own being; i.e.: your two arms, your breathe, your 10 toes… these are not only the simplest but also the grandest. From there you can grow your gratitude to all things outside of your being. By embracing gratitude in all its forms, you will gentle soften, heal and awaken deeper connection to self within your Anahata Heart Center.
Observation of Birds / Awakening Connection to Air the Heart Element
At least once a week, sit / walk or wherever you can observe the birds or a bird – Watch how they fly, spread their wings and surf on the “Air waves” – see how effortless it is for them to align with breath and air, wind and breeze, no matter what they are agile and can pivot seamlessly – observe their beauty, their chant or song, how they interact, their feathers…
After or during this observation time, write a little of what you felt and saw try and it write it in a playful way like a poem or short story or whatever feels right to express yourself.
Once this is completed, bring your hands to heart center, close your eyes, take 4 deep inhales and exhales and imagine yourself moving through life like a bird in the sky, one with air and breath – close with a large smile and compassion hug.
Self-Romance Letter (Evening)
Have you ever written yourself a love letter? You know the love letter that everyone always fantasizes receiving from another. Well, you are now going to write this letter to yourself! The most romantic-self-love letter you can possible think up.
Take time to prepare a comfortably space for you to write, and sit quietly with your pen and paper. It can be in a journal as well, or perhaps you use special paper and pen and other adornments. This is all up-to-you. After you have your tools ready, quiet your mind, you will want to a take few minutes to decipher the different tones of your ego voice and your spirit voice. What I mean is, listen to your soft spirit voice, the one that says you can do this, that you are love and tells you all the amazing aspects about yourself, never will judge you, never will point a finger at you, never will instill fear or lack.
Once you have connected with your spirit voice you will be begin to write yourself the love letter: “Dear Self, I love you, you are incredible, I even love the most annoying parts about you, I adore your hair when the breeze blows. I admire your strength in-times of chaos, you are so kind and generous. I love your eyes…etc…”
You may feel uncomfortable at first, or funny/silly feelings may come-up, embrace them and keep writing. If it is your first time doing this, the letter may be a bit “superficial” and surface centered, but the more times you write yourself these love letters, the deeper you will be able to go, the more love you uncover and nurture from within.
Keep in mind and heart; this letter needs to be the sweetest, most romantic, loving, joyous letter you’ve ever written and it’s all about you to you for you. Afterwards, honor your experience and keep this letter nearby you and read it often until you are ready to write another!
