CBD Hemp Oil: Revolution in Organic Cosmetics

More than 10% of adults in France have already tried a product containing CBD1. This major constituent of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa) has even found its place in our organic cosmetics. But do you understand this natural active ingredient and the CBD oil benefits? Hemp oil, CBD, benefits your skin… Are you a little lost when faced with the multiple forms of CBD products available today?  At Absolution, we only use the best to brighten your skin: hemp oil and CBD extracted with supercritical CO2. In short, only natural products for your skin!

Hemp oil and CBD oil: what are the differences?

Cultivated for more than 6,000 years in equatorial regions, hemp (Latin name: Cannabis) contains almost 400 different compounds2. Some, like CBD, exist in large quantities and are used for their benefits

A single plant: Cannabis sativa

Hemp oil and CBD come from the same plant: Cannabis sativa. Used for centuries for its fibres, seeds and leaves, this natural resource unfortunately has a bad reputation due to cannabis THC with its narcotic effects.

What is the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil?  It’s very simple: it’s linked to their different extraction processes. These two types of oils are from the same plant, but not from the same part! CBD oil is obtained by extraction from the plant, while hemp oil comes from Cannabis sativa (hemp) seeds.

Good to know: Hemp seeds do not contain cannabinoids
Cannabinoids, this large family of lipid molecules of which CBD forms a part, do not develop in the seeds of the plant. They only appear during the growth of the plant. Hemp oil is extracted from the seeds, and doesn´t therefore contain cannabidiol.

The CBD used by Absolution in its products such as the PAX organic soothing and purifying face oil is extracted with supercritical CO2. This extraction method with an intriguing name has several benefits: it preserves the concentration of CBD as much as possible while respecting the environment.

Can cannabinoids be used safely on the skin?

Hemp contains hundreds of different cannabinoids. Among them, two main components are CBD and THC.

-CBD (cannabidiol) has the advantage of having no psychotropic effect and doesn´t cause addiction. It is a 100% natural active ingredient.

-THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is a psychoactive, euphoric molecule, considered a narcotic and therefore prohibited in France.

Since the 1st of January 2022, the use of hemp leaves and flowers is allowed but strictly monitored. The extraction of CBD is therefore legal, but the extract must be purified to reach a level of THC less than 0.3% (full spectrum)3.

It is therefore essential to ensure that you use a quality, French CBD to protect your health. At Absolution, we monitor the quality of the CBD selected for our cosmetics. That’s why we guarantee you a CBD concentration of up to 98%.

How does CBD work on the skin?

Absolution has decided to integrate CBD into some products because our body can synthesise and then reuse it. Like all mammals, we have an endocannabinoid systemReceptors can pick up these molecules on the entire surface of the skin. It also works very well with phytocannabinoids (i.e. cannabinoids derived from plants such as hemp). CBD can therefore interact with the body. Today, scientific research is working to find out the effects of cannabidiol on our bodies. According to the testimonies and the studies carried out, such as our test on 5 types of sensitive skin, CBD seems to keep its promises and has real soothing benefits for the skin.

What are the benefits of CBD hemp oil for the skin?

CBD dissolves well in the oil. At Absolution, we have chosen to blend it with organic hemp oil to produce a 100% hemp product. The bonus? Our products combine the benefits of plant oil and those of the cannabidiol molecule.

CBD oil provides deep hydration

Does your skin lack flexibility? Is it looking a little grey? There’s no doubt: it’s dehydrated. Your goal is to strengthen its hydrolipidic film, which is responsible for protecting the epidermis against aggressors and dehydration.

One of the benefits of CBD oil is to correctly nourish and moisturise the skin in depth: cannabidiol is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and proteins. Hemp’s natural plant oil, extremely rich in fatty acids, has this instant moisturising power. Its main benefit? Its composition is rich in omega 3 and 6 which is very close to the lipids of the epidermis.

Did you know that? CBD has anti-UV properties
It’s true: the sun’s rays are not good for our skin. When attacked by ultraviolet rays the epidermis ages quickly and dehydrates at fast. CBD contains properties to protect the skin from UV rays, but you should still apply sunscreen when exposed to the sun.

CBD regulates sebum production

CBD oil cares for oily skin too. The shiny appearance is actually linked to an overproduction of sebum. This can lead to problems such as acne or blackheads. However, sebum is essential for skin hydration: it should therefore not be completely eradicated at the risk of ending up with dry and delicate skin.

The idea is simple: maintain a balance of sebum production. It’s good that cannabidiol plays a role in controlling sebum production. It acts directly on the sebocytes, the cells responsible for sebum production, regulating secretions to promote healthy and radiant skin. By blending it with a non-comedogenic oil such as hemp plant oil the pores don´t get clogged, and the skin regains its full brightness.

CBD hemp oil reduces skin inflammation

Small pimples, blackheads, impurities, acne … Some skins have their share of irritations. Often, these imperfections are the reaction of the weakened epidermis to aggressors (pollution, stress, diet, UV …). Your skincare routine should only have one goal: to soothe!

Again, CBD hemp oil is the answer! Enhanced with anti-inflammatory, antifungal and also antibacterial properties, cannabidiol effectively fights skin irritations. Its daily application can help solve your little skin problems, and also relieve other skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema or psoriasis. By soothing redness and accelerating healing, it offers welcome relief for sensitive skin.

Cannabidiol delays skin ageing

We don’t try to stop the passage of time at Absolution.  The skin ageing process is natural and must be supported. By the way, we prefer to talk about pro-ageing skincare rather than anti-ageing cosmetics. Despite the passing of time, the skin can retain its full radiance!

Thanks to its antioxidant properties, CBD powerfully protects skin against ageing. By blocking the production of free radicals this is a natural solution to maintain radiant skin. Its regular application protects the skin cells and maintains the elasticity of the skin. Its neuroprotective properties slow down the formation of fine lines and wrinkles while stimulating collagen production and blood circulation. This is a 100% natural active ingredient perfect for gently controlling the marks of time.
